Do you really need to wear the fancy, shmancy running-branded shorts?
And if so, do you really need the wear thos extremely short shorts that are so north of the knee that even the public does a double take?
To all us runners, we’d be lying through our teeths if we said we know running shorts were made different than regular cotton gym shorts. But, they are. And that’s why knowing how to buy running shorts that fit you will make running that much more comfortable. I can’t tell you how often I ran in adidas basketball shorts growing up (I was really just trying to be a baller).
There are three different types of running shorts.
– V-Notch
– Split Shorts
– Compression
The thing that makes running shorts favorable as a runner is due to their structure to prevent forces against your strides. The idea is to keep you as free as possible with every step. Most shorts aren’t meant to be run with underwear as most include additional liner for comfort as such an undergarment would. While made in various types of material, most running shorts are made of synthetic fiber polyester which allows for maximum cooling for your swear to prevent chafing (though I highly recommend chafing applicants if some areas are still susceptible to it).
